Brent Moyer the Global Cowboy – Lockdown Memories

The last four years have been a blur but now it’s a little clearer. I can see and hear 12 songs that have been floating around in various states of consciousness or unconsciousness. I hope you like the selections starting with Cowboy Samba. I love making up instrumentals and this one is fun and a good way to get things rolling.

We jump right into I Can’t Find It, another tune I wrote with my good buddy Ron Kimbro. We were at “The Garage” and we had just finished a song and I was looking for it on my phone but I couldn’t find it…well that started it and before long we had it.

On a Beach In Mexico and No Regrets are both written with Joe Collins, one of Nashville’s finest hit makers and good friend. We always seem to come up with a good one and it always starts off with a strong black coffee and about an hour of BS, you gotta love that! Thank you Joe!

I truly believe that Better Off Than Yesterday was given to me by Bobbi Nelson, Willie’s sister. She had just passed on and I was thinking of her and how she had been with Willie all those years, as a big sister and then playing piano in the family band. The song just fell out of heaven to me.

I met Gary Ferguson and Bob Tobin online and we kind of hit it off and wrote several songs like that. I was talking to Bob on the phone about our friend Joe Gilchrist, Mr. FloraBama, he had just died, and Bob being no youngster piped up and said, “I feel like I’m the last man standing”.  Way Back When is about looking back in time. I put this version down and Gary went about getting it out there.  He played it for Larry Sparks and Larry liked it. It will also be the title track of his new album, Way Back When.

I always loved the Billy Stone song Slow Motion. Joe Sun and I performed it for years so I wanted to include it here. Thanks Billy!

Perplexity is another instrumental that I love. I don’t know why I titled it this…that’s perplexing.

Rounding out the CD is Knock Me Down. I wrote this with Tom Donald about 12 years ago. I made a little demo and sent it to him. Tom spiffed it up with more production and as of the first of the year it’s had over 230,000 youtube plays. Thanks Tom!
